My deep apologies to the multiple Serious Games communities I'm connected with, since I'm in the process of consolidating Blogs & Website, Feeds & Tweets, and Social Networks.

As of today my Blog SERIOUS GAMES PORTAL no longer exists. FUTURE-MAKING SERIOUS GAMES, my main Blog, was redirected and will be gradually migrated to SERIOUS GAMES MARKET Blog, where I'll be DIGGING THE BEST OF SERIOUS GAMES PROMISING MARKET.

My renewed apologies for any further inconvenience this transition may cause.

Warmly,

E.

Hello again Martine, long time "no see".
Thanks for asking. My immense pleasure to spread the word, following my Nov 2007 post "Apply Group: Serious Games Events Being Assembled For 2008". By the way, if there is anything unique and not yet disclosed about the event, please let me know. It could eventually work as a teaser.

As Google Search has been experiencing indexing problems for the last 24 hours or so (only 3 posts on Serious Games have been crawled, whilst the daily average is about 20/30) I shall wait a little while in order to get more visibility (but won't wait too long as I understand you have a deadline tomorrow for "super early birds").

There are a few quotes I'm passionate about, the most recent being "If you want to change the future, play it first", but since I'm not aware of the report objective, I would be grateful if you could tell me a little bit more about it.

With regards to the possibility of attending the conference, I would love to. Unfortunately, this year I'm already engaged in a few events in US, including G4H. Next year, I shall prioritise UK as I do owe a visit to Caspian Learning, Red Knights and, of course, Apply SG Conference.

Please feel free to address me directly via yahoo email (you may find it at my Blog profile).

Warmly, E.

Long time since we spoke - can I ask that you spreda the word about the 3D Web Convention that I'm producing in London 9-10th July. www.3dwebconvention.com - you'll see a number of events taking place within it. I'd also love a quote from you for the report that I can use. Maybe you'd like to come over for the convention?

Hi - Isaw your slideshow on serious games. Thanks for mentioning the data from the report we authored. I am up-dating this and extending it into other areas. What are the key areas and data that people need do you think?

Switching to Unity3D

Since Blink 3D (like Adobe Atmosphere before it) has failed to thrive, I have switched to Unity3D. I am now in the process of converting my Blink projects to Unity. Certification of VW for "Fit for Purpose" or higher?

If it was necessary to get a airworthiness certificate web.alive would be the only one at present to pass. Solid designed (de-facto) engine, tested for over 6 years in UT, etc. Server-side security, CRM data, usability, automatic VOIP 3D spacial audio embedded, password protection, admin control (ability to kick, ban, etc,) staight of the peg or bespoke environments. See http://mellanium.co.uk/application-areas.php for sample application… Continue

"Indie" game engines vs De-Facto 3D game engines

"Indie" game engines do not have the stability/past performance record to achieve the required stability for professional applications. Factors of security, functionality, re-usability. tutorials, user knowledge has been acquired and built for over 10 years. Why try to invent the wheel; just find new ways to use it, is the challange now. Costs; we can provide a be-spoke VW using web.alive from £25K and can host for around £1K/Month for 20 peak port users. Why bother to create your own?

Immersive Environments using Web.Alive

There are game engines, originally created for development of computer/video games, which can be used for non-game virtual worlds. Unreal Engine (UE) by Epic Games ( http://www.unrealtechnology.com ) is probably the strongest, robust and most popular. UE is a complete 3D development framework for PCs, Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, providing a vast array of core technologies, content creation tools, and support infrastructure.
