Hi Martine, many thanks for your sweet message.

Apply Group report has been most useful to me, specially when addressing Corporate prospects, who are often cautious when asked to play the "early adopter" mode. The report does a beautiful job when referring to robust trends in SG adoption for training and education.

The sort of data I believe will be most demanded in the upcoming years is, short, sweet and to the point, all about metrics. Value metrics that could demonstrate superior, sustainable, breakthrough results when compared to traditional approaches, for instance in the sphere of education (either academic or professional).

They could eventually help Corporations to overcome skepticism and start "listening" for Serious Games possibilities, as opposed to listening for the flaws of a "baby" segment.

Congrats for your superb "leading the way in Europe" work. I bet you are having a "playful time" (joke).

Keep in touch.

Warmly, E.

Blogging on the Future of the 3D Web - More than virtual worlds .. what are the key enablers?

I have to tell you that after a marathon of web development yesterday and a start to the day of around 12 noon as a result of getting to bed at 6am I am feeling in need of TLC. As a result, this first post will not live up the usual rigour of good compelling English or must-read copy and for that I ask your forgiveness.

I always hope Blogs make you feel vitalised rather than like looking into somebody's 'life as a soap'. I know that this will deliver on that. Give me time.

So t… Continue

"Indie" game engines vs De-Facto 3D game engines

"Indie" game engines do not have the stability/past performance record to achieve the required stability for professional applications. Factors of security, functionality, re-usability. tutorials, user knowledge has been acquired and built for over 10 years. Why try to invent the wheel; just find new ways to use it, is the challange now. Costs; we can provide a be-spoke VW using web.alive from £25K and can host for around £1K/Month for 20 peak port users. Why bother to create your own?

Immersive Environments using Web.Alive

There are game engines, originally created for development of computer/video games, which can be used for non-game virtual worlds. Unreal Engine (UE) by Epic Games ( http://www.unrealtechnology.com ) is probably the strongest, robust and most popular. UE is a complete 3D development framework for PCs, Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, providing a vast array of core technologies, content creation tools, and support infrastructure.
Main features of the Unrea… Continue

PHP Versus Dot Net

PHP Versus Dot Net
By Nitin Tripathi

One of the most confusing decisions that IT policy makers of companies come across is which way to go .NET or PHP. Both have their merits and limitations. Deciding one is entirely dependant upon your budget, technical skills, requirements and your overall corporate methodology.

PHP is the most popular open source programming language used to build web-sites that rely upon dynamic content. PHP is free and so are almost all of its supporting tools, platforms,… Continue
